The Kettering Fairmont High School Band Department consists of five Concert Bands, two Jazz Enesmbles, Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, and the Marching Firebirds. With over 300 students involved in the band program, the bands have consistently received top ratings at Ohio Music Education Association events.
The Jazz Ensembles, directed by Dan Nicora, have received awards at local and regional jazz festivals, and have been invited to perform twice at the Ohio Music Education Association State Convention.
The Winter Percussion Ensemble, directed by Tommy Roam, has been a WGI regional and championship finalist.
The Fairmont Marching Firebirds, directed by Michael Berning, Bryce Newton, and Holly Maldonado, have been named a Bands of America regional finalist, grand champion at numerous OMEA and MidStates Band Association events, and have consistently received superior ratings at OMEA State Marching Band Finals for the past two decades.
Director of Bands is Michael Berning, Assistant Band Directors are Dan Nicora, Bryce Newton, Krista Berning, and Holly Maldonado.
Fairmont Band Boosters Organization
The Kettering Fairmont Band Boosters is a 501c3 tax exempt organization. Annual federal tax returns are on file in the Fairmont music office and available for review.
