Sam Bennett - Kettle Music Leads to a Gig!

Sometimes opportunity arrives where and when you least expect it. That's what happened to Sam Bennett, senior at Kettering Fairmont High School, this past Christmas season. He was serving the Salvation Army in its Red Kettle Campaign at the Kroger in Austin Landing. This year he chose to play the keyboard for his 4.5-hour shifts. One Saturdaywhile he was playing, a man stood and listened for a while. This gentleman was so impressed with Sam's playing that he asked him if he would be willing to come play piano at his church. Several weeks went by with no word, but in mid-January, Sam was asked to come play with the praise team at First Baptist Church of Franklin. He is now the interim pianist/keyboardist until they find someone full-time. His first Sunday was January 28. Sam currently plays piano and trombone for the Fairmont Jazz Band and the Wind Symphony. He will graduate this May and attend Wittenberg University in the Fall as a double major in music/psychology or religion.
