The Cincinnati Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association recently invited the Southdale Orff Ensemble to play for their biennial Chapter Share Workshop. This organization is made up of elementary music teachers from across southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky. The GCCAOSA meets four times per year to host professional development for its members. The chapter flys in master teachers who specialize in the Orff Schulwerk process (a process for teaching elementary music), to present a workshop for their members. The Southdale Orff Ensemble was the featured performing group at the 2020 Chapter Share Workshop. Under the direction of Adam Depew, elementary music specialist at Southdale Elementary, the students performed their concert entitled "The Journal." The performance featured students playing drums, xylophones, recorders, and creative movement. Additionally, students were featured in several marimba solos and even had the chance to improvise on their instruments for the attentive audience. The Southdale Orff Ensemble was well received by the local music teachers who attended the workshop. This was an awesome experience for our students and an honor to be selected for this performance.

Congratulations to Southdale music teacher Adam Depew on this performance. Thanks to Southdale principal Mr. Dan Palmer and the Kettering City Schools for their continued support of music education!
